IDTA EXAMINATIONS

Examinations at DSPA are taken twice a year in May and July, with most students taking 1 or 2 examinations over the year.

All children and students are encouraged to take examinations in the 4 core subjects of Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft and Modern Jazz, examinations are also available in Freestyle, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Musical Theatre. DSPA staff ensure students taking exams, are confident in their work, so that a calm atmosphere prevails on examination day. Students showing an interest in teaching when reaching the age of 16 years, will be begin training for Pre-Associate Examinations in their chosen genre and also the Anatomy and Physiology examination, these examinations are the precursor of the Level 4 Associate Teaching qualification. IDTA teaching qualifications give successful students, a government and internationally recognised teaching qualification in dance.  Private coaching for these examinations is always available on request.
